What is a micro wedding ?

A micro wedding includes all of the elements you would find at a traditional wedding but on a smaller scale. Think of a micro wedding being in-between an elopement and a big traditional wedding.

A micro wedding is not the same as a mini wedding. It will typically include a guest count from 10 to a maximum of 50, usually immediate family and close friends only.

This style of wedding is perfect for a couple who dream of an intimate and beautifully designed wedding without having to compromise financially. The reduced guest count will allow for you to invest in what really matters to you. Your priorities, whether that be the dream location or the mouth-watering food and drink.

Micro weddings offer an overall more intimate experience ensuring all of your guests feel included. Being centre of attention can be an intimidating experience for some couples among a large group of wedding guests. A micro wedding is the perfect wedding for couples who do not like to take centre stage but want to be surrounded by their closest loved ones.

Here are just a few ways of how you can invest where it matters to you.

Creating a bespoke menu:

Most venue's and catering companies offer standard meal packages with the option to include additional choices at an extra fee.

Working with the caterers you can both design your perfect menu that your guests will be talking about for years to come! In Lisbon the menu choice for the wedding breakfast is either meat or fish, this way you could have both if you desired.

Entertainment:

Every guest loves to dance and enjoy themselves at the wedding, even if enjoying from a lounge area. You can splurge on a live band or acoustics and singing during the wedding breakfast.

Or you can be even more elaborate and secure evening entertainment dancers.

Guest gifting:

Offering your guests gifts during a destination wedding is a delightful way to thank them for joining you both in celebrating your special day together.

Personalised gifting is a lot more manageable for a micro wedding than let's say a 120 guest wedding!

As wedding planners in Lisbon, we at ARW Events love working with our couples designing personalised guest gifting. From welcome sacks for guest arrivals to personalised hats and scarfs. Not to mention using the individual couples wedding logo on items as a surprise to the guests at each step of the journey.

There are of course many other ways to invest your budget on the finer details to make your Lisbon wedding an experience of a lifetime but we thought we would share a few to support your inspiration.

Top tip – when choosing your dream wedding venue for a micro wedding, you will have many options to celebrate. Make sure the space isn't too large, unless of course you have an amazing backdrop!
